When you think of the best players in the NFL, Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady are two of the first to come to mind. In a recent list of All-Time Greatest QB’s in NFL History, Brady came in at 1 and Rodgers came in at 10 (ESPN). We all know that when Rodgers’ career is done, he will at least be in the top 5, if not #1. Rodgers is just lacking more years compared to other NFL greats that are ahead of him (Marino, Unitas, Elway, etc.). However, right now there is a great debate on who is the best QB in the NFL; and the two candidates are Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Brady has 5 rings compared to Rodgers’ 1 but Rodgers has the eye-popping stats, including #1 in NFL history in QBR. Talent-wise, Rodgers is the better QB but it’s hard to argue against 5 Super Bowls. The ultimate deciding point in the debate would be a Super Bowl matchup.
Hard to believe that we have only gotten to see 1 Brady vs. Rodgers matchup over the course of their NFL Careers. That matchup was an epic game at Lambeau Field on November 30, 2014. It was one of the best regular season games that I have ever attended and there was huge hype surrounding the game. The Packers were victorious 26-21. The 2 QB’s stat lines were as follows:
Rodgers – 24/38, 368 yards, 2 TDs
Brady – 22/35, 245 yards, 2 TDs
The game also had the highest ratings of any football game during the 2014-2015 season.
We have come so close to seeing this matchup 2 out of the last 3 seasons. The Patriots played in the Super Bowl in 2015 and 2017 while the Packers lost in the NFC Championship both years. I can’t think of a better matchup right now for a Super Bowl. Hopefully, we get to see the Brady vs. Rodgers Super Bowl. The window is shrinking but both teams are geared up for a run at glory in 2017-2018. Could this finally be the year that we get to see a Brady vs. Rodgers Super Bowl? We will find out soon enough!
