I’m calling it now. The Los Angeles Angels will be in the playoffs in the 2018 season. They won’t obtain the number one spot in the AL West, but they are coming for the wild card. They’ve made big additions this off-season, including Ian Kinsler, Zack Cozart, Jim Johnson, and the biggest of all, Shohei Otani.
The offensive numbers will be tops in the league, and with a little help from a healthy pitching staff, the Angels will be a dangerous team. If Ohtani plays both ways like he says he can, he can help Albert Pujols increase his longevity. He can play first or DH when not pitching, which can give Pujols some much needed rest. Mike Trout will be Mike Trout, and Justin Upton will need to live up to his big contract. There is an abundance of power on this team, and they are no slouch on the defensive side.
The bottom line is fans should expect big things from the Angels this season. Excitement around the team should rise knowing the Dodgers aren’t the only baseball team in LA spending money and winning.
